Josh Kim, PhD
Bong-Hyun (Josh) Kim received his life science, food engineering and computer science degrees from Handong University in Pohang, Korea and his PhD in Biophysics, specializing in computational biology, from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas, Texas. Dr Kim’s dissertation focused on the detection of protein evolution using combined information of sequence and structural information. He completed his post-doctoral training at UMass Medical Center at Worcester MA with research in high dimensional genomic data analysis and developing computational and mathematical tools especially in ChIP-seq and Methyl-seq.
After completing his post-doctoral training, Josh joined the National Cancer Institute, Center of Cancer Research, where he worked on basic research projects in the multidiscipline area of bioinformatics, biostatistics, and oncology. During this time, he used various genomic tools including scRNA-seq. Subsequently, Dr Kim joined Intrexon in Germantown, MD to work on immune-oncology and CAR-T therapy development. Josh then joined Kite Pharma, a Gilead Company, to lead the computational and systems biology department, which focused on the development of personalized TCR-T cell therapy.
Josh joined BlueSphere Bio in 2019 to head up the bioinformatics department, where his expertise and leadership is integral to the success of both the TCXpress™ and NEOXpress™ platforms.
