BlueSphere Bio was founded to deploy its novel TCXpress™ technology to unlock the potential of personalized T cell therapy for the treatment of cancer by harnessing the unique specificity of each patient’s T cells for the molecular fingerprint of each patient’s cancer.

Our trailblazing, proprietary TCXpress platform is an elegant, rapid approach that exploits the patient’s immune defenses to attack their cancer specifically and is designed to leave normal tissues untouched, thereby reducing harmful side effects.

The TCXpress™ platform and its implementation will allow us to deliver rapid, personalized T cell treatments for various cancer indications.

Purpose
The Scientist is the primary and critical interface that will lead the cell therapy platform and assay development groups to support our lead program and task responsibility for critical aspects of future pipeline programs. The Scientist I position reports to the VP, Product Development and is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Develop an understanding of the requirements of the technical aspects of a recombinant TCR program both scientifically and the need for manufacturing a quality product
• Supports the development of our cell-based therapeutics by implementing characterization assays to understand the process performance ahead of quality control using best practices for biological assays, molecular and immunology based
• Brings experience to the team and is willing to share that knowledge to maximize efficiency and minimize development time
• Familiar with the latest developments in assay development that can add value to an evolving drug product as regulators look for market-leading quality, such experience may include digital PCR, RTCA assays, and high content imaging
• Problem-solving by driving the analysis of highly complex issues and identification of significant improvements, changes, or adaptations of existing methods and techniques
• Develop solutions that require extensive analysis and detailed investigation and be able to communicate the findings in a persuasive manner
• Working under limited supervision with a high level of autonomy
• Strong analytical experience with experimental design and analysis, supported by a comprehensive understanding of analytical tools and statistics
• Frequently interacting with senior internal and external colleagues often requiring coordination across multiple functions and groups
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Work Experience
• Ph.D. degree is required in life sciences (immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline)
• Minimum of 2-year post-doctoral experience preferred
• Cutting edge laboratory experience with molecular and functional characterization of cell surface expression modalities (TCR or CAR-T) in the fields of immunology, oncology, or immuno-oncology required.
• Experience in design, execution, and analysis of cell-based assays to assess receptor interactions and function or complex in vitro functional assays to determine the efficacy of cell-based therapeutics is preferred
• Experience in GxP definite plus
• Strong organizational and communication skills are required with excellent attention to detail
• Ability to effectively lead cross-disciplinary teams, lead others in the preparation of scientific reports, patents, and presentations
• Interpret and integrating data to make recommendations for critical discovery/technology project decisions is required
• Provide technical expertise to external collaborations both troubleshooting and review of reports
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
