BlueSphere Bio was founded to deploy its novel TCXpress™ technology to unlock the potential of personalized T cell therapy for the treatment of cancer by harnessing the unique specificity of each patient’s T cells for the molecular fingerprint of each patient’s cancer.

Our trailblazing, proprietary TCXpress platform is an elegant, rapid approach that exploits the patient’s immune defenses to attack their cancer specifically and is designed to leave normal tissues untouched, thereby reducing harmful side effects.

The TCXpress™ platform and its implementation will allow us to deliver rapid, personalized T cell treatments for various cancer indications.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Research Associate to become a member of the BlueSphere Bio family. The incumbent will join the research team aiming to discover and characterize novel TCRs using our proprietary TCXpress platform technology. As a member of the group, they will utilize a range of molecular biology and cell culture techniques to perform experiments. The Research Associate will assist in, and eventually be responsible for, performing tasks including cloning TCRs, generation of cell lines, flow cytometry, functional screening assays, automation of lab processes, and process/assay development.

Duties and Responsibilities
• PCR, PCR product purification, cloning, and colony screening.
• Bacterial transformation, propagation, and purification of plasmid DNA.
• Lentivirus production
• Cell culture, establishment of cell lines, transfections, transductions, and functional screening.
• Participation in the development and standardization of cell-based assays in high-throughput format using liquid handlers and automated culturing instruments.
• Characterization of cells using multiparameter flow cytometry and subsequent data analysis.
• Maintenance of accurate sample and laboratory records using LIMS, including cell line biobanking.
• Continuous management of multiple, and diverse cell lines.
• Organization and conducting assigned studies with a degree of independence and significant attention to detail.
• Presentation of scientific results to peers and management during regularly scheduled lab/company meetings.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Work Experience
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Immunology, Oncology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or equivalent experience required, with >3 years of working experience preferred.
• Demonstrated work in cell culture and molecular biology, including cloning and gene manipulation.
• Hands-on experience with flow cytometry and data analysis is preferred but is not a must.
• Proficiency with analytical software packages, e.g., SnapGene, PRISM, FlowJo, Excel.
• Efficiency and organization, with ability to adhere to timelines and milestones.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to independently identify issues and troubleshoot.

Physical and Mental Requirements
• You will be expected to occasionally (1% to 20% of the time):
– Climb stairs, ramps, ladders. Etc.
– Stoop/crouch by bending your legs or bending down/forward at the waist
– Reach by extending the hands/arms
– Stand on your feet
– Lift objects from one level to another (30 lbs. or less)
– Carry objects (30 lbs. or less)
– Travel (negligible)
• You will be expected to frequently (21% to 50% of the time):
– Walk around the facility on foot
• You will be expected to constantly (at least 51% of the time):
– Sit in a normal seated position
