BlueSphere Bio was founded to deploy its novel TCXpress™ technology to unlock the potential of personalized T cell therapy for the treatment of cancer by harnessing the unique specificity of each patient’s T cells for the molecular fingerprint of each patient’s cancer.

Our trailblazing, proprietary TCXpress platform is an elegant, rapid approach that exploits the patient’s immune defenses to attack their cancer specifically and is designed to leave normal tissues untouched, thereby reducing harmful side effects.

The TCXpress™ platform and its implementation will allow us to deliver rapid, personalized T cell treatments for various cancer indications.

We are seeking a talented and motivated Research Associate with expertise in immunology and/or oncology to join the growing Assay Development Group at BlueSphere Bio. The primary role of this position is to support the continued development of a high-throughput, sensitive, and automatable T cell receptor screening platform. Preference will be given to individuals with previous experience in managing high throughput cellular assays and/or screens. Knowledge in basic molecular biology techniques (bacterial culture, plasmid propagation, lentivirus production, etc.) is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have a track record of consistently advancing projects by meeting pre-established milestones. Excellent communication skills and self-organization are required, as the candidate is expected to operate semi-independently in a fast-paced, results-driven work environment within the Assay Development team.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Organize and conduct assigned studies independently.
• Importantly, the incumbent must be cable of troubleshooting various aspects of assay implementation
• Characterize, implement, and contribute to the continued development of a high-throughput T cell receptor screening assay
• Continuous management of multiple, diverse cell lines
• Bacterial transformation, propagation, and purification of plasmid DNA
• Lentivirus production, purification, and banking
• Maintain and establish new cell lines for the functional characterization of TCRs
• Participate in the development and standardization of cell-based assays in high throughput format using liquid handlers and automated culturing instruments
• Characterize cells using multiparameter flow cytometry and subsequent data analysis
• Routine interpretation and presentation of scientific data
• Efficiency and organization, with the ability to adhere to aggressive timelines and milestones
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Work Experience
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Immunology, Oncology, Cell biology (or equivalent) with 3+ years of working experience preferred
• Cell culture expertise (with preference given to high throughput assay experience)
• Demonstrated ability to independently identify issues and troubleshoot as necessary
• Proficiency with analytical software, e.g., PRISM, FlowJo, Excel
• Excellent verbal and writing skills
• Preferred: Familiarity with molecular biology techniques
• Preferred: Cellular automation

Physical and Mental Requirements
• You will be expected to occasionally (1% to 20% of the time):

– Stoop/crouch by bending your legs or bending down/forward at the waist
– Reach by extending the hands/arms

– Lift objects from one level to another (30 lbs. or less)

• You will be expected to frequently (21% to 50% of the time):
– Walk around the facility on foot
• You will be expected to constantly (at least 51% of the time):
– Sit in a normal seated position
